Birgit Menzel is a professor emerita for Russian Literature and Culture at the University of Mainz in Germersheim, where she teaches at the Faculty for Translation and Interpretation. She has published 9 books, two monographs and seven (co-)edited volumes on 20th and 21st century Russian Culture, including: Russian Literary Criticism in the Perestroika (in German and Russian), Late and Post Soviet Popular Literature (incl. Science fiction), The New Age of Russia. Occult and Esoteric Dimensions, 2012. She has also published on Altered States of Consciousness, Parapsychology and Transhuma-nism in Russia. Her current research projects are Citizen Diplomacy. A Soviet-American Exchange Program to End the Cold War and New Religious Movements in Late and Post-Soviet Russia (see: newageru.hypotheses.org/ and www.academia.edu)
